About West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval 2026

Halloween night 2026 belongs to West Hollywood: the free Carnaval shuts down Santa Monica Boulevard between N. Doheny Drive and N. La Cienega from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., packing the boulevard with the most outrageous costume crowd in America and a live DJ stage at Santa Monica and San Vicente.

This is the one night a villa beats every hotel on the Strip: gather the group for a poolside costume staging party, roll into the Carnaval, then slip back to your own private space instead of fighting the post-midnight crowds for a ride.

Highlights

Huge, free, all costume

Tens of thousands in costume fill a closed-off Santa Monica Boulevard; the city asks that children and pets stay home because of the dense crowds.

Main-stage DJ sets

A stage at Santa Monica Boulevard and N. San Vicente Boulevard runs live DJ sets through the night, with food trucks along the route.

The boulevard becomes a stage

Five hours of street-party spectacle from 6 to 11 p.m. on Halloween night in the heart of WeHo.

Villa pre-game, Carnaval, private afterparty

Costume prep by your own pool, a short ride to the action, then home to your crew - no hotel lobby bottleneck.

West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval 2026 — FAQ

When and where is the West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval 2026?

Saturday, October 31, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., on Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood. The boulevard is closed to traffic between N. Doheny Drive and N. La Cienega Boulevard for the event.

How much does it cost to attend the West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval?

It is free. There are no tickets and no gates — the public simply walks onto the closed boulevard. The only costs are transport, food from the trucks lining the route, and any afterparty venues you visit.

Are children allowed at the Halloween Carnaval in West Hollywood?

The City of West Hollywood advises that children and pets stay home because the crowds are extremely dense. The Carnaval draws tens of thousands of costumed adults and has an adult character; it is not run as a family or trick-or-treat event.

Where should a group stay for the Halloween Carnaval?

West Hollywood and Beverly Hills hotels sell out early and price at their peak on Halloween night. A private villa near the Sunset Strip is five to ten minutes from the boulevard closure, while Beverly Hills and Bel Air estates are ten to twenty minutes out. A villa gives the group shared space for costume preparation, a private pool and kitchen before the party, and a quiet return after midnight.

How far is the Carnaval from Los Angeles villas in Beverly Hills or the Hollywood Hills?

Villas in the Sunset Strip corridor and West Hollywood-adjacent hills run about five to ten minutes by car to the Santa Monica Boulevard closure. Beverly Hills, Bel Air and Hollywood Hills estates are typically ten to twenty minutes away, depending on canyon and traffic conditions.

Is there food at the Carnaval?

Yes. Food trucks line the Santa Monica Boulevard route through the night. The neighbourhood's restaurants fill up quickly on Halloween Saturday, so book dinner in advance — or arrange a private chef at your villa before heading to the boulevard.

How do we get to and from the boulevard on Halloween night?

Santa Monica Boulevard is closed to through traffic between N. Doheny Drive and N. La Cienega Boulevard, so approach from a side street and walk in. Rideshare surge pricing in West Hollywood is steep on Halloween; arrange a pickup point a few blocks off the main corridor, or hire a driver for the night to avoid the crush right after 11:00 p.m.

How do we book a villa for the Halloween Carnaval weekend?

Start early — Halloween is one of the highest-demand nights of the year across the Los Angeles basin. Browse The Maruca Group's Los Angeles villa collection and enquire with your group size and dates; a specialist will match you to a villa in Beverly Hills, Bel Air, the Hollywood Hills, the Sunset Strip corridor or Malibu depending on how close to the action you want to be.

How we screen every stay

Every home we represent is someone's personal residence, in a real neighborhood, and we've committed to the owner and their neighbors that we'll place it only with guests whose plans fit the home. So, like most professionally managed homes, we confirm a few details with every guest before a reservation is finalized — who is staying, the purpose of the trip, and agreement to the house rules and rental agreement. This is the same for everyone who books with us, and it's meant to protect you too: it keeps the neighborhood quiet and welcoming, keeps the home in the condition you expect, and ensures the property truly matches what you need. Once confirmed with the homeowner, we'll send the final quote for signature within one business day.

  • Maximum occupancy is the number shown for each home — no additional overnight guests, no day visitors beyond the registered group.
  • No undisclosed parties, events, gatherings, dinners, or photo/film shoots. Any event must be disclosed in advance, approved by the homeowner in writing, and paid for (event fee/deposit), and must follow city ordinance and house rules.
  • The primary guest must be 25+ (or the owner's minimum), must be staying on-site, and signs the rental agreement and provides ID.
  • Pet policy: pets by approval only. Service and assistance animals are always welcome — tell us in advance.
  • Quiet hours 10 PM–8 AM; this is a residential neighborhood.
  • Every guest is screened and the homeowner has final approval on every reservation.
  • Rates are confirmed with the homeowner before the quote is final.
