When and where does HIFF46 take place?
The Hawaii International Film Festival presented by Halekulani runs October 21 through November 5, 2026 on Oahu. Opening night is at the Hawaii Theatre Center in downtown Honolulu, with additional screenings at Consolidated Theatres Kahala and Consolidated Theatres Kapolei. The festival continues on Maui, Molokai, Lanai and the Big Island November 6-15.
What films open HIFF46 and how big is the 2026 lineup?
HIFF46 opens with the world premiere of The Navigator, Jordan Manley's Made in Hawaii documentary about Native Hawaiian navigator Nainoa Thompson, at the Hawaii Theatre Center. The Centerpiece Presentation is the Hawaii premiere of Drifter, the directorial debut of Sung Kang. The full program includes 84 features and 86 shorts, with 34 world premieres and 30 Made in Hawaii films.
Where should I stay during the film festival on Oahu?
A private villa on Oahu gives festival-goers space that a hotel room cannot: a kitchen for early breakfasts, living rooms for groups, and a quiet base between screenings. Honolulu properties keep the Hawaii Theatre Center and Chinatown within easy reach, while villas near Kapolei sit minutes from the west-side screenings at Consolidated Theatres Kapolei.
How far are the screening venues from each other?
Oahu screenings span three locations: downtown Honolulu (Hawaii Theatre Center), Kahala on the east side, and Kapolei on the leeward side. Driving between downtown Honolulu and Kapolei takes roughly 30-45 minutes depending on traffic, so plan screening days by side of the island rather than crossing town between every show.
Is HIFF46 only in Honolulu?
No. Oahu screenings run October 21-November 5, then the festival moves to neighbor-island venues on Maui, Molokai, Lanai and the Big Island for a second week, November 6-15.
How do I buy HIFF46 tickets and see the full schedule?
The complete HIFF46 lineup, screening times and ticketing are published through the festival's official site at hiff.org and its box office. Schedule details are confirmed there as the festival approaches.
Can I attend HIFF46 with a group or family?
Yes. The festival's spread across downtown Honolulu, Kahala and Kapolei suits groups staying together on Oahu: mornings at the beach, afternoons at premieres, evenings at Q&As. A villa rental keeps a group of friends or family under one roof instead of splitting across hotel rooms for a multi-day festival.
How we screen every stay
Every home we represent is someone's personal residence, in a real neighborhood, and we've committed to the owner and their neighbors that we'll place it only with guests whose plans fit the home. So, like most professionally managed homes, we confirm a few details with every guest before a reservation is finalized — who is staying, the purpose of the trip, and agreement to the house rules and rental agreement. This is the same for everyone who books with us, and it's meant to protect you too: it keeps the neighborhood quiet and welcoming, keeps the home in the condition you expect, and ensures the property truly matches what you need. Once confirmed with the homeowner, we'll send the final quote for signature within one business day.
- Maximum occupancy is the number shown for each home — no additional overnight guests, no day visitors beyond the registered group.
- No undisclosed parties, events, gatherings, dinners, or photo/film shoots. Any event must be disclosed in advance, approved by the homeowner in writing, and paid for (event fee/deposit), and must follow city ordinance and house rules.
- The primary guest must be 25+ (or the owner's minimum), must be staying on-site, and signs the rental agreement and provides ID.
- Pet policy: pets by approval only. Service and assistance animals are always welcome — tell us in advance.
- Quiet hours 10 PM–8 AM; this is a residential neighborhood.
- Every guest is screened and the homeowner has final approval on every reservation.
- Rates are confirmed with the homeowner before the quote is final.
